MEETING ABANDONED
Gore Trotting Club j IN.Z.P.AJ GORE. Jan. 26. i It was decided last evening to ’ ! abandon the meeting fixed for February I 13 and apply for permission to race on | March 6, when the programme wall be made to comply with the conditions , dictated by the Trotting Conference j through the Minister of Internal Affairs. Normally the club holds two ' , trotting events each day, but owing to i the reduction in the numbex- of racing days, at the last meeting only one 1 trotting event was held, the proI gramme being approved. Then a similar j proposal for the February meeting met ; opposition from the Trotting Conferi ence, which refused to approve the ; programme. The club then issued a i programme deleting all trotting events. The Minister has now refused to give I the club a totalisator licence for the ! meeting. I The committee last evening expressed great dissatisfaction at the action of the Minister and the Trotting Conference. particularly in view of the fact | that at least one other club has taken I similar action to that at first proposed | at Gore, undex- which one trot would be held, and no opposition had been 1 offered.
