It is reported from Washington that Colonel Knox, secretary to the Navy, in an article in the magazine, “Flying,” says the so-called experts who criticised the Navy planes as being under-gunned would be interested to learn that the Grumman Wildcat packed even more “wallop" than the famed Spitfire. Not only were American fighters superior, but dive-bombers and torpedo-planes were the world’s strongest and most heavily armed.
