FEW COMPLAINTS
Absentees From Work After Holidays
(N.Z.P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 11. Confirming the indication obtained last week reports to-day, when most f the factories had resumed work after the holidays, were that comparatively few complaints about absenteeism had been made in Christchurch. The District Manpower Officer, Mr Ross, said that complaints had been very few, and he knew of no bad cases. Only one or two complaints had been received by the Canterbury Employers’ Association, and one by the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association.
The Christchurch clothing factories, generally, have apparently not been much affected by absenteeism. The secretary of the Tailoring Trades’ Union. Mr J. Roberts, said to-day that he had made a number of inquiries which showed only isolated cases of absenteeism.
