GIRL SHOT AT PLAY
SHOTGUN EXPLODES (N.Z.P.A.i WAIROA. Jan. 11. A shocking tragedy occurred on Saturday afternoon at Wairoa, when Hine Paraki, aged 12. the daughter of Mr and Mrs P. V. Roy O’Neill, had her head blown off. The girl was playing with a boy named Smilec at the time. It appears that in order to give more effect to the game, the boy secured a round of live ammunition and loaded a gun. Later the gun exploded, the charge striking the girl. Hearing the explosion, neighbours rushed in and found the body of the girl.
