Big Bag Of Raiders

LONDON, January 6. Royal Air Force flghtesr and antiaircraft gunners on Malta shot down 955 Axis raiders between them in the last 12 months. Nearly 300 more were probably destroyed. The fighters accounted for 773 aircraft and the antiaircraft gunners for 182. Royal Air Force losses during the year were 195 machines, from which 89 pilots were saved. Aircraft based on Malta atba-ked 46 enemy convoys, six single vessels, and. five naval forces. As a result 4(1 ships were sunk, severely damaged >r left in flames. ' Naval aircraft hit 37 enemy ships with bombs and torpedoes. Forty ships were probably hit. During the enemy’s attempt to neutralise the island he dropped 12 000 tons of bombs.
