FAIRLIE NEW YEAR BALL

The dance held in Aorangi Hall on New Year’s Eve in aid Of St. Stephens Church funds, was largely attended, and the function was most successful. During the evening tlife Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band played selections in the street, the New Year being ushered in in typical Scots fashion. GOOD SHEARING WEATHER Wanii weather has been experienced for the past week, and shearing has made good progress throughout tire district, many sheds now having been completed. Fanners are now turning their attention to the harvest, which is fast coming on. There is a shortage of labour for this work, and many farmers are finding difficulty in harvesting hay and early crops.
