CAMPAIGN IN BURMA
British Nearing Akyab
LONDON, Jan. 4. It is still uncertain whether the Japanese on Arakan coast intend to defend Akyab or withdraw, says Reuter’s correspondent on the Burma front. It is difficult to establish whether the ships arriving at and leaving Akyab in the last few nays have been bringing *9. (.'--plies or taking off troops. The British problem of supply is increasing as we near Akyab. The Japanese meantime are making short sharp attacks from the jungle and waterways.
