France And The Ruhr

(Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 4. British bombers were over the Ruhr in force last night. Three planes failed to return. Nearly 3000 fighters, including English, New Zealand, Canadian, Czech, Norwegian and Polish squadrons participated in a large scale offensive yesterday over Belgium and France from Brest to Bruges, between 10.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., while American heavy bombers attacked the docks at St. Nazaire. The American bombers attacked in good weather. Bursts were seen on the target and fires were started. Seven bombers are missing.
