MENINGITIS EPIDEMIC OVER
(11.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Sept. 14. Australia’s epidemic of cerebrospinal meningitis is over. The Commonwealth Director-General of Health, Dr. J. H. Cumpston, believes it appeared to follow precisely the same course as the epidemic of the first war, but superior modern knowledge in the use of sulphanilamide has lowered the death rate from half in 1916 to about 15 per cent.
