Enemy Cargo Ship Sunk
A United States Navy communique states that an American submarine sank a 5000-ton cargo ship in the East China sea, between China and Japan. Soviet and South African Relations M. Maisky (Soviet Ambassador) and Mr S. F. Waterson (South African High Commissioner) have signed an agreement providing for an exchange of Consular representatives between the Soviet and South Africa. Britain’s Extreme Cold Britain’s present winter is among the coldest for the last 50 years and the third in succession to produce exceptionally severe frosts and record snowfalls. Between January 1 and February 2 the temperature 20 times dropped below zero, including twice ten degrees below. Since the outbreak of war Britain has passed through the coldest cycle of the present century.
