INDIAN SITUATION

Attitude Of Britain (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19. The Secretary of State for India (Mr L. C. M. S. Amery) stated in the House of Commons that Britain was not in a position to make any fresh statement on the Indian political situation. Referring to the opposition of Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru (leader of Congress) and the Indian Nationalist movement to Japanese aggression and ambitions, Mr Amery stated that Britain naturally appreciated and would give full publicity to the anti-Japanese sentiments of the Indian political leaders, and would welcome their active co-operation in resistance to the Japanese or other enemy aggression.
