SOLDIERS’ DEATH

Verdict Of Suicide (P.A.) AUCKLAND. Feb. 19. A verdict of suicide was returned bv the Coroner, Mr F. K. Hunt, at the inquest into the death of a soldier. Clarence Richard Franklin, single, aged 29. who was found dead in the guardroom of a military camp early this morning. Evidence was’ given that Franklin was court martialled recently on a charge of insubordination and was under detention pending the promulgation of sentence. Further evidence was given that he had not been considered fit to go overseas and had been employed around the camp. He was seen to be all right at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, but when visited by a guard this morning was dead. A towel was wrapped tiehtlv round his neck.
