BETTER WORK ON WATERFRONT

Improvement Reported By Minister (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 18. Improvement in waterfront work throughout New Zealand was reported by the Minister of Labour (Hon. P. C. Webb), following the appeal he made while visiting Auckland some weeks ago. He expressed confidence that a further improvement could be anticipated. “There has been more contmuous work notwithstanding the acute shortage of waterfront labour,” Mr Webb said: “Some men have worked more than 80 hours a w’eek. day and night, and are certainly giving a good return.”
