NAZI SPY SHOT

Caught By Home Guard LONDON, August 15. A German secret service agent. Josef Jakobs, was shot in the Tower of London this morning. Jakobs, who was a non-commissioned officer in the German army and attached to the meteorological service, was dropped by parachute from a German aeroplane in the Home Counties. He was dressed in civilian clothes over which he was wearing a flying suit and a parachutist steel helmet. He hq,d a wireless transmitting and receiving set, a large sum of English money, emergency food rations, including brandy and German sausage, and also carried a small hand spade for burying his parachute and flying kit. He was taken into custody by members of the Home Guard about 12 hours after his descent.
