LOUIS KNOCKS OUT CONN
Challenger Was Leading On Points (12.7 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 19. Joe Louis/defeated Billy Conn by a knock-out in the thirteenth round for the world’s heavyweight championship. A crowd of 50.000 witnessed the fight. Conn was leading on points to the tenth in an electrifying battle and it seemed that the mighty negro was heading for defeat when the challenger stopped a smashing right hook to the chin early in the thirteenth, which floored him. Conn was trying to rise when the timekeeper completed the count.
