SENTENCED TO DEATH
Engineer Traitor LONDON, May 8. George Johnson Armstrong, aged 39, an engineer, was sentenced to death at the Old Bailey after a trial m camera for an offence under the TreaC 1 This V the fifth sentence under the Treachery Act. The others were three aliens and Mrs O’Grady. The jurt of Criminal Appeal, on February 10, passing judgment in camera, quashed the conviction of jmotny Pamela O Grady, aged l 42, described as a housewife, on ca.ital charges under the Treachery Act but sentenced her to 14 years’ imprisonment on charges on which she was previously convicted, but not Namely, approaching a protiibitea place, making a plan which might be useful to the enemy, making a plan likely to be prejudicial to the defence of the realm with intent to assist the enemy, possessing a document purporting to contain defence information, and sabotage by cutting a telephone wire.
