He went at a sound pace and though he changed a couple of the brush obstacles, it was a very creditable display. He is booked to compete over country at Washdyke Sir Frederick (A. Leach) went carefully over the two pony, hurdles. He does not jump well by himself but he is likely to race well at Ashburton. Mungatoon (H. W. Hibberd) was given a run over the pony hurdles, and he will have some more serious schooling later on, in preparation for the hurdle races at Washdyke next week. He shaped well when tried last winter and he may make a useful hurdler. L. Gough has made a change in his plans for Jewish Lad. He will race in the steeplechases at Washdyke next week and then will be sent to Auckland, where it is intended to start off with the Greenlarie Steeplechase, after which, if all goes well, he will contest the Great Northern Steeplechase.

Not Out was lame after his work yesterday, due to having a foot pricked. He was sent over six furlongs on the No. 7 grass track this morning, and walked off quite soundly, so it is hoped he will be all right for his engagement at Ashburton on Saturday. E. C. Parker is spelling Blue Abbey for a month, after which he will be got ready to resume racing about August. Parker has a couple of novices in work. One is a four-year-old mare by Nightmarch from St. Joan, by Jericho from St. Leaven, and the other is a two-year-old filly by Myosotis from Pink Abbey, by Pink Coat from Some Abbey, the dam of Some Shamble.
