NEW CHAMPION FOUND By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, December 30. The New Zealand centennial draughts championship tournament was concluded to-day, the new champion being J. Gardiner, of Nelson, whose total of 20 points was two ahead of the runner-up, G. A. Brown. The new champion had won the title previously in 1903, 1908, 1914 and 1928. Brown has been champion on six previous occasions. The handicap tournament was won by W. Davis (Wellington), the runnersup being J. Gilhooly and F. W. Graham (Dannevirke).
