Britain’s Brilliant Victory British Official Wireless RUGBY. December 18. In the House of Lords the Lord Chancellor read the following telegram from the President of the Egyptian Senate “In the name of tire Egyptian Senate, as well as my own, I beg your Lordship to accept and transmit to the House of Lords our warmest congratulations on the very brilliant victory which has been gained by the valiant British Army against the Italian forces on the western frontier. This victory, in freeing Egyptian territory, adds a magnificent paragraph to the glorious military annals of Britain, and it will powerfully contribute to secure the triumph of democracy." Admiration of Greeks The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Lord Halifax) announced today that the Prime Minister (Mr Churchill) had asked him to express the Government’s admiration of w’hat the Greeks were doing at the present time in the struggle in which Britain and Greece were engaged. With the continued help of Greece, British forces on "land, sea and air, said Lord Halifax, would do everything possible to hasten a victory over their common enemy.
