COONEY—FLEMING

The wedding was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, Waimate, of Kathleen, youngest daughter of Mrs Fleming and the late Mr T. Fleming, Glenavy, and John Vincent, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. F. Cooney, Morven. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father M. McKenna, S.M., who also performed the marriage ceremony. Miss K. Kane presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr W. M. Fleming, wore a frock of parchment satin, the bodice of which was shirred down the front from the heart-shaped neckline, the same effect being shown on the sleeves. The bodice was finished at the back with a richlieu belt and buttons. The fully-flared skirt was cut to form a train and her beautifully embroidered tulle veil, which was held in place with a top-knot of orange blossom, was arranged with a halo of pleated tulle and fell in graceful folds to the ground. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothea Flynn (cousin of the bride) and Miss Philomena Breslin (niece of the bride), who attended as bridesmaids, wore frocks of primrose georgette over taffeta made with fully stiffened sleeves. The shirred fronts showed heart-shaped necklines, and very full flared skirts fell from fitting waistlines. They wore effectively swathed turbans of delicately-shaded primrose taffeta, and carried bouquets of roses, carnations and freesias in pink tonings and maidenhair fern. Mr Mat. Cooney attended his cousin as best man, and Mr Kevin Easton, of Oamaru, was groomsman. At the reception, the bride’s sister. Mrs J. Breslin, of Waimate, received the guests. She wore a navy suit, navy hat with upturned brim relieved with pink, and navy accessories. She wore a shoulder spray of pink freesias and sweet peas with maidenhair fem. The bridegroom’s mother, who assisted, wore a black and white pin-striped sheer frock under a black edge-to-edge coat and black model high crown hat relieved with white, and a shoulder spray of red tulips and maidenhair fern. For travelling the bride wore a navy pin-striped tailored costume, a navy hat of fine Baki straw, and navy accessories.
