TROTTING CLUB SUCCESSFUL MATINEE MEETING Net proceeds of the matinee meeting on September 23 conducted bv the Timferu Trotting Club in aid of the Air Force Queen amounted to £65/18/9. but £25 of this sum has been voted to the Navy Queen. Mr A. J. Parris reported to a meeting of the committee of the Timaru Trotting Club last night that it had been found difficult to secure sufficient entries from trotters alone to conduct the matinee meeting, and it was decided to include a race for draught horses as well as one for gallopers. As the Jockey Club, which was attached to the Navy Queen, had provided one of the races, it seemed equitable that a proportion of the proceeds should be allocated to the Navy Queen. The Air Force Queen committee, Mr Parris said, was agreeable to leaving the allocation to the Trotting Club. On the motion of Mr W. A. Piddington it was decided to hand £25 from the proceeds to the Navy Queen Committee. The inglorious uncertainty of racing was demonstrated in the Dunedin Guineas. Over six furlongs on the first day Doria gave Don’t Forget 141 b and was galloping away from him at the finish. On 191 b worse terms in the Guineas, Don’t Forget finished three lengths ahead of Doria.
