Australian Jockey Club officials said that the Randwick meeting was the best for ten years. The attendance for the four days totalled 176,000, an improvement of 17,500 on last year. The most successful owner was the New Zealander, Mr R. Stewart, whose horse, Beau Vite, won three races worth £5BOO. The leading sire was Beau Pere, whose progeny won £6050. F. McGrath was the leading trainer with five wins worth £9895. Mosaic was badly hurt in the Randwick Plate and will not race again this spring. BEAU VITE TO CARRY 9.7 IN CUP United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 14, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 14. For his Randwick wins Beau Vite has been rehandicapped 61b for the Melbourne Cup, bringing his weight to 9st 71b. U.S. Interest in Beau Pere Mr W. J. Smith, owner of Beau Pere, received a cable from an American studmaster, asking him to put a price on the horse. Failing a sale Mr Smith was asked to consider sending Beau Pere to America to be mated with several selected mares. The offers are not likely to be accepted.
