Defence Of Britain Oulted Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, June 8. “For months past, the order for civil defence has been ‘stand by,’ ” said the Minister of Home Security (Sir John Anderson), in a message to the people of Britain. “Now, it is ‘stand to.’ At any moment the call may come for the civil defence to go into action, and we must be ready to answer it at once.” He added that steps should be taken at once to see that every person in Britain knew what to do to protect himself in an air raid.
