WANGANUI'S LOSS By Telegraph Press Association WANGANUI, May 7. E. J. Callaghan, Wanganui and former New South Wales Rugby hooker, has been transferred to Hastings by the Department of Agriculture.
This means that seven of last year’s interprovincial representatives are not available this year, others being D. G. Barton (in camp); G. Hook (transferred to Tokomaru Bay); R. Hunter (serving in Egypt); M. Dickie (not playing this year); and L. Northover and K. O. Parnell (about to enter an n.c.o.’s camp).
NEW SOCCER TROPHY By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 7. To mark the centennial, members of the Council of the Football Association to-day decided that they personally contribute to buy a cup to be known as the Centennial Cup. The trophy Will be presented to the team which this year wins the Chatham Cup. It will be in addition to the Chatham Cup and will be held permanently by that team. The suggestion, which was made by the chairman of the Council, Mr F. Campbell, received the unanimous support of the members.
