United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 23, 10.30 p.m.) MOSCOW, January 23. The Red Army newspaper “Red Star’’ estimates the French forces in Syria and Lebanon at 300,000 and the British forces in Egypt and Palestine at 100,000. Poles, Czechs, White Russians, Indians and Negroes are included in these forces. The coastal belt from Aleppo to Damascus is a colossal armed camp intended to intimidate the opponents of Britain and France in the Balkans and spike Italy’s territorial ambitions in the near East.
