Mr T. H. Lowry Gives £lO,OOO CONDI' lONS ATTACHED TO GUT By Telegraph Press Association WELLINGTON, January 21 A centennial gift of £lO,OOO has been made by Mr T. H. Lowry, the wellknown sheep breeder and farmer of Okawa, Hawke’s Bay. to advance the war work of the Y.M.C.A. The gift is in the form of a cheque under tomorrow's date coinciding with the national celebration of New Zealand’s first 100 years. Mr Lowry has stipulated that the money must be used for the establishment and maintenance of a Y.M.C.A. hut for the welfare of the New Zealand fighting forces overseas. Tire hut is to be established at the base camp wherever that might be and be maintained during the whole period of the war.

During the last war, the Lowry family gave the hut which was at the base camp at Etaples. It was known to thousands of New Zealand soldiers.
