PROTEST AGAINST CENSORSHIP

Should Be “Weapon Of Democracy” United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 21, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON. January 20. A conference of the National Union of Journalists unanimously passed a resolution deploring the Government censorship, distribution and suppression of important news not informative to the enemy and attempts to influence policy by deletions. It is urging the censorship only of news strategically valuable to the enemy and requesting the reorganisation of the press and censorship bureau to become a weapon of democracy instead of the tool of service departments.
