“HUNTING” FOR WEIGHT

Carole Lombard in Sierras

Carole Lombard and her husband. Clark Gable, have left Hollywood for the High Sierras, on a hunting expedition—without guns. For Miss Lombard is hunting for weight, not big game, as she is under her doctor’s

orders to gain eleven pounds before she returns to resume work in “Vigil in the Night,” interrupted a month ago when she was stricken with appendicitis. i As the result of an emergency operation, and weeks in the hospital, the (star lost thirteen pounds and despite 1 a strenuous fattening diet, had been able to regain only two of them. She has been ordered to gtt out into the open for long hikes, to eat hearty meals, and get plenty of rest and relaxation far from the diversions and interruptions of Hollywood. Miss Lombard expects to return soon, when “Vigil in the Night,” resumes production. Brian Aherne, who plays j opposite Miss Lombard in the picture, will also return on duty, from his honeymoon with Joan Fontaine, whom he recently married.
