MYRNA LOY AS A NEW TYPE
Departs from Role of Mrs Thin Man It takes courage for a star to change the character for which she is famous at the peak of a successful career—particularly if the change is from “sweet” roles to worldly roles. But Mryna Loy found the courage to play the amorous Lady Esketh in “The Rains Came,” which co-stars her with Tyrone Power and George Brent. After four years of playing the perfect wife and sweetheart, beginning with “The Thin Man,” Myrna Loy made no secret of the fact that she was tired of smiling sweetly and would welcome an opportunity to be wicked for a change.
