COASTAL DEFENCES

INSPECTION BY LORD GALWAY By Telegraph—Press Association Auckland, January 15. A comprehensive inspection of Auckland's coastal defence points was made to-day by the Governor-General. In the morning he used a launch to get to the areas he wished to inspect, and in the afternoon he went from North Head to Narrow Neck and other points by motor car. At all stations the troops were paraded for inspection. Although he did not address the men. Lord Galway was complimentary in the remarks he made to the officers after he had made his inspection. In addition to seeing the troops on parade, Lord Galway visited the quarters and Inspected armament and other equipment. The inspection started early in the morning and lasted until well into the afternoon.
