Successful Concert Presentation Made The annua] concert of the Milford School was an outstanding success. A . lay, “The Woodchopper,’’ performed by the senior pupils, was heartily applauded by the large audience. “By the Light of the Moon,” performed ■ y the junior pupils, told the story of the nursery rhymes with which children are so familiar. An excerpt from “The Quaker Girl” was presented by the senior girls. The senior boys sang “We Saw the Sea.” “The Fleet’s in Port Again” and “Pirates Bold.” The chairman of the School Committee (Mr R. Lyall) in returning thanks to the headmaster (Mr C. Wild) and the assistant (Miss Vesty) said that the concert had been most enjoyable and the children were to be congratulated on their fine performance. He then paid a tribute to the work of Miss L. Cain, who had been official accompanist for school concerts for many years. It was with regret that they learned of her imminent departure. Aitken, Christchurch, who has been visiting friends in Temuka ; returned north last evening SPARKLING COMEDY The sparkling comedy drama “I’ll Give a Million,’’ showing at the Elite Theatre to-night, has Warner Baxter and vibrant Marjorie Weaver as the romantic leads in a story of a millionaire who leaves his yacht to enjoy life as a tramp. Baxter eventually finds his way to a circus where he meets Marjorie Weaver, and a hectic romance reaches an astonishing conclusion.
