WINTER SHOW
Annual Meeting Of Association No Arrangements Made No arrangements for next year’s winter show were made at the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Industrial Exhibition and Winter Show Association last evening, but it was recommended that the emergency committee should call an executive meeting in January to consider the possibilities Of holding a show Those present at the meeting were: Messrs C. J. Talbot (president), Messrs C. W. Wood, G. H. Andrews, B. L. Blodorn, J. Palliser, H. W. Lomas and W. Lewis. “This time it is not possible to review the annual show which it was reluctantly found necessary to abandon,” said the annual report. “The year opened full of promise and the organisation was completed for the staging of the show. However, early ih May it was thought advisable to abandon the project as financial arrangements were not as far advanced as they should have been. Certain expenditure had been embarked upon with a result that the year’s operations reveal an excess of expenditure of £llB/16/2, leaving the accumulated fund at £4267/15/10.” The executive desired to record its appreciation of the assistance so willingly rendered by the large body of voluntary helpers. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr C. W. Wood and the secretary (Mr F. J. Cook) were appointed trustees. An the suggestion of Mr Andrews it was decided that all officers elected at the last annual meeting should be reappointed for the current year. A sincere vote of thanks to Mr C. J. Taibot for the interest he had taken in the affairs of the Association was moved by Mr Andrews.
