CONCERN FELT
RETRENCHMENT OF STAFFS By Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, November 16. Concern about the possibility of retrenchment among the staffs of Invercargill business firms is being felt by employees. The position that has arisen as a result of firms being unable to obtain the goods they require will be discussed at a meeting of employees on Monday night, when it is expected that a modification of the import restriction and exchange control regulations will be strongly urged and a decision to make strong representations to the Government. Employees, it was learned to-day, have good reason for concern as some firms have already indicated to their staffs that because they are unable to increase their present stocks they will not require the present number of employees.
