CROSSING SMASH
MOTORIST KILLEI By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 16. Fatal injuries were received by Edward Wilson Alker, aged 23, as a result of a collision between the car he was driving and ah express train at a level crossing at Frankton this evening. This is the fourth crossing accident in the Hamilton district in the last four \ 'is, two having proved fatal. Alker was driving a new two-seater motor car and the vehicle was struck by the Auckland-Wellington express on the crossing, which is just north, of the Frankton railway yards. Five tracks cross at this point. The car was carried 35 yards before it was thrown aside. Among other injuries Alker suffered a fractured skull and died within a few minutes. The engine of the train was extensively damaged ar ’ had to be replaced.
Alker was a single man and was proprietor of the Alker Machinery Exchange at Frankton, where he lived.
