SUSPENSION OF SCHOLARSHIPS Bv Telegraph Press Association WELLINGTON, September 12. When war broke out the authorities at Oxford University cabled to New Zealand to the effect that the Rhodes Scholarships for the year were suspended, but when they heard taat New Zealand’s pair, Messrs I. Berendsen and G. C. Weston, wore already on their way home, a further message was sen! leaving il to the scholars or their parents’ discretion whether they proceeded or returned to New Zealand. If the decision is made Io complete Hie voyage Hie authorities at Oxford will look after the scholars. In the meantime communication is being established with the two scholars as far as circumstances will allow, but as yet it s not known definitely whether they will be returning or not. There is similar uncertainty about . the holders of other scholarships at I Cambridge who recently left for England.
