REMAND GRANTED
PART-WINNER OF ART INION IN TROUBLE By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. July 20. One of the holders of the winning ticket in the last art union. Edward Vernon Reynolds, appeared in Court this morning charged with having been i intoxicated while in charge of a car. Reynolds was remanded till Friday, July 28. | “This man is one of 'Two Drunks’ I who won the last art union and they ! have plenty of money,” said SubInspector Packer, in asking that bail I be substantial. I The Magistrate <Mr E. C. Levvey) I said he would fix bail at £2OO, with a surety of £2OO. I There would also be a hit-and-run charge, said the Sub-Inspector, in asking for a remand. Reynolds was I in a drunken state and while driving past the hospital struck a man and went on. Another motorist started up his car and gave chase, finally getting the number of the vehicle.
