Twelve Acts in New Fuller Revue
In addition to Salici's marionettes there are 12 important acts in “Funz-a-Poppin,” the American revue which Sir Benjamin Fuller will present in New Zealand soon.
The puppets appear in 10 brilliant scenes that range from a Neopolitan scene with Vesuvius erupting in the distance on a moonlight night, to a concert singer, acrobats and a bicycle race. The raising of the curtain during the performance to show how the marionettes are manipulated is not the least of the novelties. The Salici’s themselves, six men and one woman, have fine voices, often blending in chorus. The stars of variety in “Funz-a-Poppin” are Ross and Edwards, Ziegfeld comedy stars, Carr Brothers and Betty" novelty performers who recently appeared at a Royal command performance in London, Tommy “Bozo” Snyder, Broadway’s pantomimic comedy personality, Green and Lang, described as the Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Macdonald of variety, Lorette Grey, “Pepperpot” comedienne, the Van Twins, famous girls from Hollywood, Jack Bickle, acrobatic dancer, and the Twelve Debutantes, dancers from the Radio City Music Hall, New York.
Bobby Morris, comedian of the Hollywood Hotel revue, will appear with the company, he having been retained in New Zealand.
