CITY MILK SUPPLY
FREEDOM FROM TUBERCULAR BACTERIA By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND. June 23. The freedom of the city’s milk supply from tubercular bacteria was emphasised by several members of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council when reference was made to an Invercargill statement that 6.9 per cent, of the dairy cows of the Dominion were infected with tuberculosis. It was stated that the council’s regular returns of milk analyses showed no signs of tuberculosis. Mr H. Meikle said that he hoped the Auckland public would not be alarmed by the statements which had emanated from Invercargill. The position in the city was better to-day than it had ever been, and regular returns furnished to the council had revealed no sign of disease. It would be a good thing if the public were made familiar with the council’s testing system. Since the council had come into being the quality of the milk supplied to the city had improved out of bounds. "Tests have revealed no tubercular milk.” said the chairman, Mr I. J. Goldstine. “In view of the reports from southland, it is wise that these assurances should be given.”
