WOMEN’S DIVISION

SKII’TON BRANCH Mrs Parr presided at the monthly meeting of the Skipton branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, which was held at the home of Mrs W. Gudex. Correspondence was received and accounts passed for payment. Il was decided to hold a concert and dance in August, and to have an egg drive in September in aid of the community chest. An interesting demonstration on cushion making was given by Mrs and Miss Gudex, and Mrs Scarlett demonstrated darning which was watched with interest. Mrs Bruce reported on the executive meeting, also the shop committee meeting, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Miss Gudex was hostess for the afternoon. Competitions resulted as follows: Sponge cake: Miss Maxwell 1, Mrs Scarlett 2. Flowers: Mrs Scarlett 1, Mrs Parr 2, Miss Gudex 3. Aprons made from sugar bag: Mrs Scarlett 1. Miss Gudex 2. Mrs Woodham 3. The next meeting will be held on July 27.
