WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
FAIR TO FINE Special to “ The Timaru Herald." WELLINGTON, June 4. Winds—Moderate to strong winds between north-east and north-west. Weather—Fair to fine and milder. Seas —Slight to moderate. General Situation Pressure remains high over New Zealand. An anti-cyclone is centred over the North Island and is moving slowly eastward. An extensive depression covers Tasmania and the south-western Tasman Sea. Forecast Winds— Between north-east and north-west prevailing, moderate at first but gradually freshening and becoming strong to-morrow in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Slight to moderate but rising about Cook Strait and south of Farewell Spit. Eastern Tasman Sea—Fresh to strong northerly winds reaching gale force in parts of the central and southern areas; seas rough. Weather—For the most part fair to fine, becoming unsettled to-morrow, however, on the West Coast of the South Island, with rain developing; some scattered rains probable also in the far north and south; temperatures milder.
