After what the Government claims to be an overwhelming election defeat of the domestic Nazis M. Csaks in a speech warned the irresponsible elements in Germany “against interfering in Hungarian affairs.” He emphasised that he did not believe that these elements were connected with the Reich Government but nevertheless many successful Government candidates were avowedly sympathetic towards the Nazis. The Christian Social Party was almost eliminated, while the Small Farmers, who were well represented in the last Parliament, lost heavily. The Nazis made tremendous headway in the majority of the big towns, and a second poll must be held in many districts to decide between the Government and Nazi candidates. The final results were:— Government Party 180 Seats Nazis 45 (compared with 3 previously) Small Farmers 12 (compared with 60) Liberal Democrats 5 Social Democrats 5 Christian Social Party .... 3
