CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE

YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS Special to " The Timaru Herald." CHRISTCHURCH, May 31. The following quotations were ruling when the Stock Exchange closed for the day:— Buyers. Sellers. £ s. d. £ s. d. N.Z. Govt. Debs.—

KAIKORAI TRAM COMPANY By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, May 31 “As far as can be judged at present, there seems every reason to believe that the final position will give a return of £l/12/- a share,” states the report of the chairman (Mr Alex Sligo), of the Dunedin and Kaikorai Tram Company, Ltd. The annual meeting (postponed because of tire liquidation proceedings) will be held on June 19, when the special resolutions to be considered will consist of: (1) That the company be wound up voluntarily; (2) to fix the fee to be paid to the liquidator; and (3) to appoint a liquidator. NATIONAL RELIANCE TRUST A profit of £11,310 is shown by the National Reliance Investment Trust, Ltd, for the year ended March 31 last, compared with £16,304 in the previous year. A dividend at the rate of 44 per cent, compared with 6 per cent, in 1937-38, requires £11,250, and it is proposed to transfer £5OO to general reserve, compared with £2OOO in the previous year. Tire directors state that reduced dividends received from non-ferrous metal shares have been the main factor in contributing to the reduction in the return on copital.
