WOMEN’S DIVISION
GERALDINE BRANCH The March meeting of the Geraldine branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was presided over by Mrs W. Watson who extended a welcome to new members and visitors. Correspondence was received from Mesdames W. Watson and J. Scott and Mr H. H. Fraser wrote concerning the coming Winter Show. The offer of Mrs J. Wordsworth to attend the meeting of women in Timaru and to report to the next meeting was accepted with thanks. An interesting talk and demonstration of making bouquets and posies was given by Mrs Brewer of Timaru, who also offered a prize at the next meeting for the best posy made from berries and leaves. On the motion of Mrs W. A. Sherratt the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks for her address and offer. Members were asked to support the District Nurse appeal to be held on May 17. The competitions resulted as follows.—Posy: Miss M. Rattray. Sponge roll: Miss Shirley Watson 1, Mrs W. Watson 2. Single bloom: Mrs G. Bailey 1, Miss M. Rattray 2 and 3.
