Stableford Bogey At Highfield Handicaps Reduced With the course in perfect order, the attractive performances being registered at Highfield are not surprising After the lean season in 1938 it is very pleasing to see the keenness of players so early in the golfing year, especially as there was a feeling in some quarters that the game was losing some of its popularity. Throughout the summer players have been preparing for the winter attack on par. and the early scores indicate that several handicaps will be operated on before many weeks are past.

M. C. Gresson has signalled his reentry into the Highfield competitions with some good scores. In the junior section of a Stableford bogey match on Saturday he returned -he best net card so far this season. Playing off the limit (24) his net round was 59, 11 strokes under par. He scored 23 points off the club to which was added his bogey handicap of 18. Gresson was out in 42, and home in one stroke better. T. Doyle returned to the winning list by leading the senior section. 29-9-38. His medal round was a net 68 P. H. Davies and A. J. Allport were each only one point away. Davies was responsible for an attractive 75 off the club. He was only two over for the first nine. G. S. Carmichael took the intermediate honours with 2J-11-40. His net medal score was 62—41 and 36. T. W. Lynch and W. Thomas with 37 and 35 points respectively were also in good form.

G. Davies was next to Gresson in the junior division with 37 points. Dr.vies has maintained the good form he revealed towards the end of last season. Handicaps Reduced Handicaps have been reduced as
