WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
CONDITIONS IMPROVING Special to " The Timaru Herald ' WELLINGTON, November 3. Wind.—Light to fresh north-easterly prevailing. Weather.—Fair to cloudy; temperatures rather cool. Seas—Rough at first north of Kaikoura otherwise slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST General Situation An anti-cyclone covers the South Tasman Sea and the South Island, but another shallow depression is crossing the North Island. Pressure is falling again over south-eastern Australia. Forecast Winds—Light to moderate northerlies at first from New Plymouth and Tauranga northward, otherwise southeast to north-east prevailing, strong at first about Cook Strait, but otherwise light to fresh. Seas (N.Z. waters)—Rough at first about Cook Strait and rather rough on the East Coast of the North Island, but moderating to-morrow and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate south-east to easterly winds, and slight to moderate seas. Weather—Fair to cloudy south of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, elsewhere overcast and with intermittent rain, but becoming fair to-morrow, except between Hawke’s Bay and the East Cape; temperatures cool.
