SEQUEL TO SUSPENSION OF POLICE OFFICER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 1, 12.50 a.m.) COLOMBO, October 31. The Commission which inquired into the case of Inspector-General of Police. Mr P. N. Banks who was recommended for deportation in July 1937, of a Londoner Mr Mark Bracegirdle, who arrived from Australia, exonerated and reinstated Banks, and adversely commented on the evidence of the Home Affairs Minister (Sir Baron Jayatilaka). The Supreme Court in 1937, quashed the Governor’s deportation order against Bracegirdle. The board of Ministers afterwards recommended Bank’s dismissal. Bracegirdle achieved notoriety when, as ’earner on a tea plantation, he is reported to have attended meetings of Yoniin the Indian Communist leader.
