KENNEL CLUB

Outstanding Show Judge Praises High Standard The South Canterbury Kennel Club’s fifth annual show, which was concluded at the Timaru Showgrounds on Saturday, was probably the most successful fixture yet conducted by the Club, both from the point of view of the standard of the entries and the attendance of the public, particularly on the second day. Commenting on the show generally, the Judge, Mr P. W. Willson (Wellington), remarked that although the entries had been affected by the fact that prominent exhibitors were competing at the Royal Show at Hamilton the lack of quantity had certainly been more than compensated by the quality of the exhibits on the show benches. The Cocker Spaniels, were outstanding dogs, and the Borzois, Sealyham terrier, and Pekinese were also of a high standard.

A word of praise is due to the president, Mr J. B. Wood, the hon. secretary, Mr Robert Stout, and the hon. treasurer, Mr W. J. Smith and their capable committee, Messrs G. Kemick, J. M. Crowley, G. Cullen, J. Mowat, H. J. R. Somerville, F. Hayes and W. T. Kellahan, and Mesdames Barnett and W. T. Kellahan, and Miss L. Greig, for the efficiency of the show arrangements.

Before Mrs J. B. Wood presented the numerous trophies, the president expressed the thanks of the club to the judge, Mr P. W. Willson, whose decisions had given every satisfaction and Mr Wood thanked the competitors and the public for their support, and expressed the hope that their interest would again be forthcoming at next year’s show.
