PYNE, GOULD, GUINNESS’ DISPLAY “BAVENSTOCK” SEARING IRON MAKES TAILING SAFER AND CLEANER Nowadays, with more modern methods of farming and increased topdressing of pastures practised by farmers, diseases in sheep and lambs unfortunately seem to be on the increase. One of the greatest losses in stock suffered by farmers to-day, despite every precaution taken, is the loss of lambs as a result of disease germs entering the open wounds after docking.

Farmers who have practised searing in recent years have proved that the method very considerably reduces blood poisoning, arthritis and stiff joints in lambs. Apart altogether from these important aspects, the fact that lambs thrive so much better immediately after being tailed by this method instead of by the knife, warrants it a trial.

The Baverstock Searing Iron has been designed to replace the old method of heating irons in a fire-can.
