HAWKE’S BAY RESIDENTS RETURN By ielygrapn—Press Association AUCKLAND, September 30. Paris was a city of red, white and blue during and after the visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth, said Mr and Mrs T. H. Lowry, Hawke’s Bay, after returning by the Mariposa from a holiday abroad. They said that after the departure of the King and Queen much good feeling was manifested towards the English people.
The Lowrys saw the Italian-trained horse Nearco win the famous French classic, the Grand Prix, and in London they saw the Derby.
“And,” said Mrs Lowry, “we picked the winner—at least, I did.”
They also had three days’ glorious weather at Ascot. With Lady Wigram, Mrs Lowry attended the International Red Cross Conference, in London. Of the 63 countries belonging to the organisation, 56 were represented.
She’and Mr Lowry attended a reception given by the King and Queen Mary at Buckingham Palace. The delegates were also entertained by the Lord Mayor of London, and the British Government, at Lancaster House.
