The weather became threatening last evening and rain appeared probable. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—29.92. Max. temp.—s 4.6. Min, temp, on grass—36.4. Wind—E.l. Rainfall—Nil. Rainfall to date this year—29.6 Bin. Rainfall to date last year—ls.36in. Sunshine—4.2 hours. Sunshine to date this year—l23o.lhrs. Sunshine to date ast year—l2l2.6hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Ashburton: Although the sky was overcast for the greater part of the day yesterday was comparatively mild, a light wind blowing from the northwest. Geraldine: Dull and overcast in the morning; sunny in afternoon. Waimate (for 24 hours ended 9 am. yesterday): Thermometer, max. 55.2; frost, 2 degrees; rain, 3 points; bright sunshine, 8 hours 30 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 52. Yesterday was mainly overcast with a heavy shower of rain about 9 a.m. Dunedin: Yesterday was overcast. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 56 degrees. There was little wind. The barometer rose sharply in the afternoon to 30.21 inches.
